Only in Canada
« on: May 30, 2017, 02:16:58 PM »
Oye...only in Canada. A bit fat rubber duck is our big controversy of the day. Too funny. The Americans are coming apart at the seams...their government has been totally co-opted by the Russians, they have decided that the world owes them much much more money and should hurry up and pay it, their leader is a greed-stricken, egotistical buffoon and rampant, violent racism dominates their daily lives.

In Canada?

We got this big duck issue.

I don't know about you...but I think we got it worse. :)

Well now, it looks like Christy Clarke, Premier of British Columbia, will Test the Confidence of the House and request a Thrown Speech from the Lieutenant Governor Judith Guichon. And all will happen immediately. The Legislature will decide, vote down the government and the NDP and The Green Party, by mutual agreement, will form the next government. Wow....just wow. Crazy BC politics.

Want even more drama?

Christy Clarke and the Liberals, along with Justin Trudeau and -- of course -- the oil-drunk government of Alberta, were in favour of the Kinder Morgan/Trans Mountain Pipeline being built across the Province of BC....so they could make gobs of money by trading oil and gas with Asia.  Now, however, the NDP/Greens will be in power and are totally against the billion dollar pipeline project, as it puts BC at great risk for spillage, encourages natural disaster and it completely disrupts First Nations land rights.

Well, I say....good on the NDP. Even while Trudeau, all the way from Italy, is claiming that the Federal government will force the issue and Rachel Notley, Premier of Alberta, is vehemently pledging that 'mark my words' the pipeline will go forward because -- in their words -- 'it's a good deal for Albertans and for all Canadians'. I mean, really....do they think they can force BC to build a huge project on their land if they clearly don't want one?

And you know what? Why should BC care what is growing inside the wallets of Albertans or Central Canadians? They certainly have never cared one tiny bit about BC's financial well-being, their natural environment or even their future. Not one smidge.

It should be a very interesting few weeks in Provincial/Federal politics in this country, that's for sure. Honest, straight-forward and right-up-there-in-your-face. Canadian politics, eh? It's not for the feint of heart.

Ever wonder who Sgt Pepper really was and why Paul McCartney is wearing an OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) patch on the Sgt Pepper Album cover? Wonder no more, gentle reader...wonder no more.

It turns out that Sgt Pepper was the very stoic and stone faced security guard assigned to The Beatles on their trip to Canada. And, I suppose, with so many drooling, screaming and fainting young women (ie: lonely hearts) following the band...well....the album began to take shape.

Mystery solved. Check out the OPP patch in this pic of Paul and the band.

          -------UPDATE------
Incredible: Christine Archibard's family asked that instead of donations to the family at this time, others should donate their time, efforts and finances to homeless shelters, food banks and community organisations in their home cities and towns. Christine would have wanted that, they said. And so, people all over the world are now using the hashtag #Chrissysentme and making donations to help others.

You know....people really are good, if you just give them the chance. :)
